With an 8.2% increase in pending home sales contracts for March 2010 and a +17% over last year in home sales for the same period, there are reasons to be optimistic and believe that consumers are starting to come back. Are we ready for them? What has changed in their shopping behaviors that we need to be aware of and able to adapt to or, rather, capitalize on?
Recessionary hangover and recessionary fatigue come to mind. But not just this.
Consumers' need for a one stop shopping space where all their many renovation or new construction needs are exceeded (DIFM) is another change in their shopping expectations and bigger than ever. So is, their demand for relevant, instant and personalized communications, promotions, and offerings.
