Presentation at the APAS 2012 Annual Conference and Trade Show for the Supermarket Sector in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

After a review of some of the most dramatic global shifts in consumer behavior and shopping patterns, the participants will learn the fundamentals of creating a retail shopping experience that delivers on consumer's expectations. Supermarkets and grocery stores all over the world are ramping up their efforts to create store environments that entice the customer to stay and enjoy the experience with shop-in-the shop solutions, restaurant style eating sections, fresh and exotic stations and more. As well, their merchandising strategies are getting more and more creative from an assortment, pricing and promotion point of view also with the help of ever more pervasive technology applications. Service is also changing swinging from self-service checkout registers all the way to full-service cashiers dispensing recipes and advice. And of course, community and events are becoming more and more popular to build share of heart and mind and to showcase themselves as a lot more than a just a store where to pick up food and necessities!
