Facts: most stores (and running stores are no exception!) carry two to three times more inventory than necessary; they penalize their customers for their own mistakes (by carrying old inventory); have no idea of how much inventory to purchase each month. Other facts: most inventory is “just in case” when it should actually be “just in time” and, the last one, FISH – first in still here – is still alive and well! Developing a Merchandising Budget is key to a company/store’s higher productivity, better cash flow and optimal customer service.
