The consumer, retail and the economy. What are the trends? What are the predictions for the future? What are the strategies to weather the storm? Australian and New Zealand CE and appliance retailers are suffering from the same, if not worse, consequences of the slumping of the housing market.
Time to look at the foundations of one’s business and if they are solid and there is an opportunity to focus on them more closely rather than taking extraordinary measures, there is plenty of light at the end of the tunnel. If there were weaknesses to begin with and the discipline, the rigor, and a sound business plan went amiss, the path to ‘redemption’ is a lot harder.
Essentially, these are the times when operational, merchandising and financial weaknesses are exposed more than ever before and streamlining them is not an option. It is also the time when for those businesses who have been focusing on the fundamentals of good business management all along, there is a tremendous opportunity to not just survive but thrive for a very long time.
